Jetlagged but here!
Such a pity it takes a week to recover fully from jet-lag! This is the punishment for traveling east/west from home. The only solution is to travel for longer than a week (or make short hops in an around-the-world trip). As usual, time is our most valuable resource. The picture is Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, four metro stops from our Hotel Jazz (so named from the multiple jazz nightclubs in walking distance and the softly piped jazz music that plays throughout our room and bathroom). Sagrada is mind-numbingly intricate and organic. Gaudi must have developed entirely new methods of mathematics to build in this manner. As Karen said, his works look more like they were dripped in place with a candle than constructed. Two more days in Barcelona with a dizzying array of choices of things to see, eat and drink. We could easily be entertained by Barcelona for a few years (if the job opportunities presented themselves) but suspect that we're not city-folk at heart. Only the countryside holds our attention and interest for the long-term, the city always feels like life in fast foward, compressed and caffeinated. --Casey

Hail to the world travelers. I thought that Spain is much lay back than other places. Blend in by taking afternoon naps and having tapas. The jetlaging could be to your advantage to catch cool miditerian nights. Or is it raining? ("Rain in Spain rain mainly..." leads my imagination.)
I loved the "dripped" comment. We used to make drip sand castles when I was a kid, and Sagrada Familia does look just like them. Enjoy the chocolate!
amazing piece of artwork.
enjoy your time away....
