In case anyone's interested in what we've been up to for 'Labor Day' Weekend, the name of the game is Demolition. Here you see the Engineer hard at work deconstructing our 1984 kitchen cabinets (the opposite of what George Orwell had in mind when he wrote the book). Good news is that within 12 hours, we already had three bites from Freecycle folks willing to grab the old cabinets. We're in the process of "greening" our kitchen - green recycled glass tile back-splash, bamboo floors, green paint. (BTW: Y'all do you know that the reductionist moniker "The Engineer" is a term of endearment, given to Casey by my father, not a sign of disrespect. Of course, Dad pronounces it more like, "Da Engineeah".)

No comments yet?!! Here's one: the camera was good to the old cabinets, they actually look pretty in the afternoon sun. or maybe it was morning? But also, may we have a peek at the temp kitchen, and the minimalist menus for this week?
I know what your are going to do this weekend... build the kitchen. Right? Engineer is made to build things. Looking forward to the before and after comparison.
Hey, Momma M and WCC: Thanks for checking in. Believe it or not, we've outsourced someone to install the cabinets for us. So, like the phoenix bird, our kitchen will begin rising from the ashes to renew itself, starting at 7am tomorrow. Thanks to the handyman, it will rise quicker than expected.
What fun! Cooking and cleanup w/o benefit of a kitchen sink is quite the challenge. Be careful firing up the microwave, toaster oven and electric skillet on 1 circuit. Had to reset ours several times ;) Can't wait to see it.
