As we prepare for Expedition 2011 (the details of which shall not be named), the Engineer has taken the lead on researching and purchasing our temporary dwelling. The winner, weighing in at 5lbs, or the equivalent of a sack of potatoes - is the REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus tent. In keeping with our cultural traditions, we waited until the REI 20% certificate arrived in the mail and upon receipt of said coupon Casey pounced. The largest tent we currently own is a dusty rose- hued Coleman dome that has seen the night skies of southern Arizona, gritty beaches of Sonora, Mexico, and the country with the best trekking, and highest Transparency International rankings in the world - New Zealand. Last night we pitched the new tent in our basement just to get the kids accustomed to their new digs. E was far more dubious than the white-faced black dog but he'll get used to it. Won't he?

Did a quick fact check on the tent: 3-season, backpacking... I guess that for the trip that shall not be named, you guys are not going to somewhere cold. For the backpacking part, it does not tell me much since one of you will be loaded with Eli (and associated gears), the other would prefer light weight gears. In fact, first order estimation, I need to figure out if this would be a domestic or international travel. One more hint?
Why is Kiwi hanging outside the tent rather than inside?
Yes, wuchunc is a very good gumshoe detective. The material of that tent doesn't even look like it could withstand rain, let alone snow. Is Mexico in your future? Lomma.

Very tempting to visit you guys and to hug and kiss all, but it is too early to tell if we can go. Really miss the time when we could just pup up at your doorstep in Tucson. Where is that promised transporter beaming device, Casey?
