Lessons Learned

Back in Colorado now, a week earlier than anticipated. So tempting to continue on but we have many preparations for the crazy summer ahead. Still excited about presenting a paper in Malaysia next month, but the simplicity and cost of American bicycle travel seems so much better by comparison. Stumbled upon one cyclist's blog the day after we fought 2 days' worth of headwinds, and learned that many folks just break until the winds abate for safety reasons.

At least we've gleaned a sense of what it takes to make the long trip across the US. First lesson learned: mail home two full boxes of gear you don't really need. Second lesson: feed Casey plenty of meat when he returns home (pictured: Colorado bison).
