Waitress
I just love this NY Times article on waitresses: Here to take your order (and biting our tongues). As a seven-year restaurant veteran, waitressing helped pay my way through college and grad school, and I've long been a believer that all Americans should be required to sling hash in a diner or bistro for a year of their lives. How better to teach the entitlement generation that, to quote my favorite bumper sticker, only one six billionth of this is about you.

Ha! Love that bumper sticker. =) I never worked as a waitress unless McDonald's counts. Trust me that the management there treats you poorly enough that it's probably just as effective as actually waitressing.
