Mmmm, Carrot Juice

The gray expo counter tops gleams with confidence, making our 1980s kitchen look like a well preserved Hollywood starlet. Painting and tile backsplash are on this weekend's agenda, which means we'll be done by October 1st. Even Kiwi strolls across the bamboo floors with a Revlon-like attitude that suggests "she's worth it". Let's admit it. Improving one's space goes along way toward increasing the happiness quotient, especially when the chips are as down as they were in August. The Engineer and I made it our mission to take exemplary care of ourselves in the wake of the adoption agency's closure. Thus, carrot juice, grilled buffalo, red leaf lettuce with organic sesame dressing, and copious amounts of home made plum cake have been the mainstay of our diet - and it all tastes better in a new kitchen.

Epiphanies happen. And ours was quite simple. Things could get far worse than this. So buck up, campers, and enjoy your good health and the good economy while we've still got it. Photos to follow after this weekend's paint job: Parisian taupe?

Very nice! I was also wondering about the faucet.

And the plums are from the "organic" back yard? A faucet Would be nice for washing them. Can we have a picture of the other side too? It really is lovely.

The faucet is going in soon, as are the tiles, but we're doing some last minute jobs on the basement before the inspection deadline. I'm afraid I can't show you the other side of the kitchen because it ruins the effect. We put our old fridge back and it "uglifies" the work we've done, but we're not ready to get a new one.
