Glass Tile Update
Well, thanks to Casey, the kitchen is coming along well and has begun to take on a wonderfully Mediterranean feel. Today we worked on laying the blue glass tile. Casey has simultaneously been working like a madman to finish the basement before our building permit expires. My job as apprentice was to bake grilled cheese, tomato and thyme sandwiches and chocolate chip cookie bars in the toaster oven. Weekends haven't been all that exciting these days, but completing this job will certainly be worth the effort. It's been especially rewarding to see such progress given that we waited 5 years to make any changes! Probably the one downside of the kitch
en job has been the prospect of moving our old appliances back into the room. Our 15-year old fridge has "uglified" the remodel, but we're determined to hang onto the darn thing as long as we can stomach it. As for the dishwasher, it's just filler, as we never use it.

You actually waste more water doing your dishes by hand. You should start using your dishwasher!
We've heard that before, but the jury is still out, depending on the dish soap, and the actual unit you use. Besides, Casey and I wash dishes like we're camping in the Gobi Desert. But thanks!

Beautiful tile, beautiful kitchen. Bite the bullet and replace the appliances. No point in doing a 1/2 way job now that you have started. You will be glad you did.
So, if your building permit expires, do you have to leave the job undone or is it a way to get you to pay more?

Gorgeous! And you can always store food in that dishwasher, ya know. That's where all the good treats are at my mom's house. Of course, she's insane.
You guys are all so funny! The real reason we don't use our dishwasher is because there just aren't enough people dirtying dishes in this house. We need some rugrats running around, sullying up our new blue tiles. :)
